China continues to strengthen its role as a global convener by organizing structured platforms that bridge the gap between governments, businesses, and investors. A premier example was the 2026 Overseas Investment Fair (OIF), held under the theme: “Better Services for Shared Prosperity in Global Investment.”
High-Level Representation & Speaking Engagement
The Asia Institute of Sustainability, Entrepreneurship and Diplomacy (AiSED) was honored to be invited to this prestigious forum. Representing the Institute, Chairman Dato' Stephen Cheah served as a featured speaker during the High-Level Roundtable I, titled: “The Future of China–ASEAN Industrial Synergy: From Infrastructure Connectivity to Ecosystem Co-Creation.”
His contribution underscored the necessity of moving beyond traditional physical connectivity toward a more integrated, sustainable ecosystem-based approach between China and the ASEAN region.

Event Overview & Global Scale
Held from 25–27 March 2026 at the IBSZ Eastern Hub (Shanghai Eastern Hub International Business Cooperation Zone), the forum demonstrated immense global reach:
Participation: Stakeholders from 58 countries and regions, including senior government officials, international organizations, and Fortune Global 500 executives.
Engagement: Nearly 100 structured matchmaking and networking sessions were conducted, supported by a dedicated exhibition platform to facilitate immediate investment alignment.
Infrastructure: The venue itself—the IBSZ Eastern Hub—served as a case study in China’s cluster-based expansion strategy, providing a specialized zone with policy and infrastructure support designed specifically for international business cooperation.
Strategic Focus & Networking
The OIF 2026 program prioritized high-level diplomatic and commercial exchange. Following a Welcome Dinner on 25 March, the Chairman participated in a private luncheon hosted by the President of the China Council for International Investment Promotion (CCIIP) and a subsequent VIP Dinner on 26 March.
The dialogue focused heavily on four key pillars of future investment, where Asian and European participants showed the strongest alignment:
Digital Economy
Green Economy
New Energy
Artificial Intelligence
Conclusion & Appreciation
The 2026 OIF was a highly outcome-driven forum that successfully reinforced the transition toward integrated international collaboration. AiSED extends its sincere appreciation to the Bedford Square Group (BSG) for coordinating the high-level engagements, as well as the China Council for International Investment Promotion (CCIIP) and the Shanghai Government for their vision in hosting this impactful event.
