Hainan Department of Foreign Affairs and AiSED Plan Collaborative Initiatives for Boao Forum 2027


📍 HAIKOU, HAINAN (May 21), The Hainan Department of Foreign Affairs hosted a strategic bilateral meeting with the Asia Institute of Sustainability, Entrepreneurship & Diplomacy (AiSED) to accelerate regional economic cooperation under the framework of the Hainan Free Trade Zone (FTZ).


The session was led by Madam Liu Liu, Director-General at the Foreign Ministry (Hainan Provincial Foreign Affairs Office) and Deputy Director of the Sisterhood Department, together with Dato’ Steve Cheah, Chairman of AiSED.

AiSED serves as the Southeast Asia chapter of the UNESCO Entrepreneurship Education Network (EE-NET) and operates under the royal patronage of His Highness Tengku Amir Shah, the Crown Prince of Selangor.


Key Highlights & Discussions


🔹 High-Level Visit Coordination

The central focus of the meeting was planning an upcoming official high-level visit by the Crown Prince of Selangor to Hainan. To maximize diplomatic and economic impact, it was mutually agreed that this high-level visit will be scheduled for late March 2027 to directly coincide with the prestigious Hainan Boao Forum.


🔹 Leveraging Sister Relationship

The talks focused on capitalizing on the momentum of the 2023 Sister State/Province Agreement signed between the State of Selangor and Hainan Province to deepen bilateral relations and regional connectivity.


🔹 Strategic Continuity

The dialogue builds directly upon Dato’ Cheah’s previous high-level discussions with the Hainan Department of Commerce regarding regional integration and trade corridor expansion within the Hainan FTZ.


🔹 Establishing a Regional Hub

Supported by the Crown Prince’s patronage, AiSED aims to bridge market gaps and establish a robust regional hub connecting Malaysia, Southeast Asia, and Southern China.



Core Outcomes

The session concluded with a firm agreement to formalize ties between the Hainan Department of Foreign Affairs and AiSED.


Moving forward, both entities will co-organize the framework to bring the Crown Prince and a high-level delegation of diplomatic and corporate leaders to Hainan in March 2027.
